As you know, every year there is always a hip, ‘in’ and in trend toy for toddlers and kids out there. And apparently this year is the year of the Zhu Zhu Pets.

What are Zhu Zhu Pets

Zhu Zhu Pets Zhu Zhu Pets are interactive toy pets, each with their own set of over 40 sound effects, squeaks, chirps, etc. Oh and yeah, the ‘main’ zhu zhu pet character is the Hamster.

The pets are made by Cepia, a seven-year-old outfit in St. Louis. It’s the second toy startup for company CEO Russell Hornsby, a Mattel veteran who says his first company, Trendmasters, went under in the 2002 recession after his bank cut his funding…Hornsby, 56, says Zhu Zhus were inspired by his own family’s pet hamster.

Zhu Zhu pet toyszhu were just a prototype as recently as last November. The company tested them with focus groups of kids at Wal-Mart (WMT) and Toy “R” Us stores in Phoenix this past May. The company even changed the product name from Go Go Pets right before the September retail launch

Would you believe that a comic book which was bought $0.35 was sold from an auction fro $317,200? Yes, it happened… This was the oldest Superman Comic from 1938! There was only 100 pieces printed during the first release way back 1938 and not all of the owner are selling.

What makes this comic book a prized possession is that it is in a very mint condition, almost brand new according to news.

Here’s what we read:

A rare copy of the first comic book featuring Superman has sold for $317,200 in an Internet auction. The previous owner had bought it for less than a buck.

It’s one of the highest prices ever paid for a comic book, a likely testament to the volume’s rarity and its excellent condition, said Stephen Fishler, co-owner of the auction site ComicConnect.com and its sister dealership, Metropolis Collectibles.

The winning bid for the 1938 edition of Action Comics No. 1, which features Superman lifting a car on its cover, was submitted Friday evening by John Dolmayan, drummer for the rock band System of a Down, according to managers at ComicConnect.com.

Dolmayan, who is also a dealer of rare comic books, said he acquired the Superman comic on behalf of a client he declined to identify.

“This is one of the premier books you could collect,” he said in a telephone interview. “It’s considered the Holy Grail of comic books. I talked to my client, and we made the move.”

Dolmayan said the client has “a small collection, but everything he has is incredible.”

Only about 100 copies of Action Comics No. 1 are known to exist and they seldom come up for sale.

“Maybe in a booming economy, it would have done a hundred grand more, but in this economy, I think the price is great,” Fishler said.

The man who had previously owned the book purchased it in a secondhand store in the early 1950s when he was nine years old.

He paid 35 cents.
