Do miners use spur gears? I’m not sure but our topic for today is about them and one of the best mining company locally.

In the history of mining in the Philippines, it has always been said that the concept of responsible mining is a “myth”– it does not exist. Indeed, a lot of miners do not follow the protocols to ensure that mining will have minimum negative impacts as possible. However, just recently, a mining corporation shocked the country, even the government, when it made the first step to responsible mining–to report its own spillage.

The Philex Mining Corporation reported to both Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR) about a spillage which contaminated the surrounding areas of the mining site. The accidental spillage was said to have been brought about by the heavy monsoon downpour last week. The mining corporation even took the initiative to implement measures to mitigate the destructive effects of the spillage which included a cease in operations.
