Fitness cannot be achieved with diet alone. Physical activity is important in keeping your blood pressure under control, as well as keeping you away from possible complications like heart attack and stroke.
• But first, an important advice: You need to get your doctor’s advice on the kinds of physical activity that you may get involved in.
• Aerobic exercise (requiring oxygen) is the way to go. Doctors have found that at least 30 minutes of aerobic execises a day would help keep blood pressure down. Going to the gym or taking up a sport may help, but there are other forms of physical activity that you may enjoy. These could include jogging, brisk, walking, swimming and dancing among others.
